Acceptable use
- Use the tools to test your own connection and browser.
- Do not try to bypass rate limits, scan addresses that are not yours, or use the site to attack or probe other systems.
- Do not overload the service or interfere with other people's use of it.
- The free API is for reasonable use. We may limit or block abusive clients.
No warranty
The tools are provided as is. Results such as IP location, VPN detection, leak verdicts and the privacy score are estimates and can be wrong. They are not security advice, a security audit or a guarantee that you are protected or exposed. We are not liable for decisions you make based on them.
What the tools do and do not do
The checks run mostly in your own browser, and the server only answers the lookups you request. The tools show what a website can see about your connection and give practical guidance. They do not scan your device for malware, monitor your accounts or replace professional security advice. A clean result means the specific test found nothing, not that you are safe.
Port scanner rules
The port checker may only test the public address your own connection uses. It is rate limited, it checks a short list of common ports and it never tries to log in or send exploit traffic. Attempting to point it at someone else's address, or to get around its limits, breaks these terms and we may block the client.
API keys
- Keep your key secret. You are responsible for requests made with it.
- Quotas are listed on the API pricing page. We may change or revoke a key that is shared publicly, resold or used abusively.
- Results are approximate and provided as is. Do not use a single result as the only basis for blocking a person or making a decision with legal or financial effect.
Guides and written content
Guides are general information written in plain language and dated when updated. Products and settings change, so check the date and the vendor's own instructions before changing important settings. Please do not republish whole guides without permission; short quotations with a link back are fine.
Links to other sites
We link to third-party sites and products. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or practices. Some links are marked as affiliate links.
Reporting a problem
To report abuse, a wrong result or an error in a guide, email contact@scanmyprivacy.com. The privacy policy explains what data the site handles.
