IP lookup API: plans and pricing

The same IP lookup that powers this site is available as a JSON API. Use it to enrich sign-ups, flag network type, localise content or log where requests come from.

Common uses

What a response contains

Each response includes the address, approximate country, region and city, the network owner and ASN, a network-type indication and privacy-score metadata with its method. VPN or hosting detection is an inference from the network name and includes a vpnConfidence and vpnBasis; it should be treated as a signal, not proof. See the API documentation for every field.

Which plan fits

How quotas work

Quotas are counted per key each month. Every response carries X-RateLimit-Limit, X-RateLimit-Remaining and X-RateLimit-Reset headers, so your code can slow down before it hits 429. Full request and error details are in the API documentation.

Compared with building it yourself

A lookup API saves you from licensing and updating location and network data. It does not make the data exact: IP location is approximate and VPN detection is an inference. If your decision depends on precision, use the result as one signal alongside others, as described on the methodology page.

Honest limits

Request an API key

Tell us what you are building and roughly how many lookups you expect. We reply by email, usually with a free key to try. Paid plans and self-serve billing will follow once there is enough demand.

How to start

  1. Try the anonymous allowance with curl https://scanmyprivacy.com/api/v1/lookup.
  2. Fill in the request form above with your use case and expected volume.
  3. Send the key in the x-api-key header.
